Robot Riot Sprint Blog 6

Despite not having as much to do with this sprint compared to the last few sprints, this was perhaps the most difficult one so far. However, I am beyond proud with what I made. The first task assigned to me was to create a credit artwork of all the robots waving “goodbye” to the player. This was the first time I drew all four bots in the same image, and while getting the scaling to look right was difficult, I prevailed and made a piece that I’m quite proud of.

The next piece I made for this sprint was perhaps the most difficult task I ended up doing for this entire semester. I was in charge of creating an item list, which included making a separate page for each item, and incorporating the approved descriptions for them all. This didn’t seem so hard, until I remembered that there were 12 items in total for the game. But despite the amount of time it took, I was still able to make an item list that everyone loved, and even though the total assets saved were 16, they were all still used efficiently within the game’s beta.

The last two tasks assigned to me luckily didn’t take as long as the item list did. I started with a Timer Panel UI, and I decided to be a bit experimental with how it looked. I was not given a reference with how the designers wanted it to look, so I made an educated guess. Luckily, after sharing it, the design was met with approval, and even praise from the lead designer. The final task I did for this sprint was design a “Player Join” screen. I used a similar screen pattern that I’ve been using for the other UI, but I decided to try a more sky-blue color this time around as opposed to the common teal color seen in the game. Luckily, that too was met with approval; since blue seemed to be the main color motif for the game.

In conclusion, I am very proud of what I’ve made for this sprint, and I’m happy my experimenting has been paying off in the team. As I see the game being beta tested, the gameplay is solid, and I’m excited to see this game’s release as the publishing date comes by closer and closer, All I can do is hope that everyone will appreciate my artwork as much as the team has been.
